COVID-19 Communications Strategies

Due to the current COVID-19 epidemic, here are a few things that we have been doing to help our clients better communicate with their clients, customers and vendors. Communication is vitally important, so implementing the following strategies would be a great start. These are simple things that you can do yourself, or you can have our team at i360 Group handle it for you.

Update Your Website

Regarding the COVID-19 situation, you should place a clear message on the Homepage of your website. It can be a thin banner at the top of the page that directs you to a more detailed page. Another option is the use of a Overlay. This works like a pop-up but is not treated like one if someone has pop-up blockers installed on their browser. A clear, positive message regarding your status will keep your customers informed. If you are continuing to operate indicate the hours of service and the methods that you are taking to keep your customers and your staff safe.

Google My Business Updates

Google recommends updating your business hours and adding a COVID-19 statement on your Google My Business page. This information is often what is shown on the right side of a Google search for your business. Regular GMB posts or updates are recommended by Google. We also suggest updating your Bing Places page as well.

Craft a COVID-19 Statement Using a Blog Post

Crafting a COVID-19 statement and publishing it as a Blog post is a great way to fully articulate your current status. You have a full bank page to add business hours, special offers, new polices and more. Maybe even share a photo or video. Once written, it can be easily updated and shared via Social Media.

Social Media Communications

As mentioned, once you have crafted a COVID-19 statement, you can share it on the appropriate Social Media channels in 2 clicks using a Social Sharing Plugin. You can also use Social Media to stay in regular communication with your customers. Also, remember that a fun or positive message can brighten a person’s day.

Zoom Calls

We have seen a huge increase in Zoom or video calls. This is a great way to see the people we want to communicate with. There are several platforms that work well, such as Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts and Skype. Make sure that your face is well lit and that your camera and microphone are working properly. Show up like you would for an in-person meeting.

Phone Calls

This old school method of communication can go a long way to helping communicate with your customers, clients and vendors. We have spent countless hours on the phone with clients. It seems like people want to talk. In a one-on-one conversation, people can ask more specific questions and perhaps share issues of a more personal nature. A simple phone call may help with some of the emotional aspects of the situation.
